30 Days of Texas: A Silhouette

I am a Europe girl at heart. There is no place in the world I feel more at home than in France, Italy or England. I love the culture, the art, the cuisine, the people, everything. I have experienced other cultures too, being Indian by ethnicity, growing up in Kenya, and attending an international school, but the Western culture as always eluded me. In all my childhood, I can honestly say, I never thought about cowboys. I never pretended to be a cowgirl. I never even watched a Western. So, while being in Texas, I have been exposed to a whole different, amazing culture that has rarely crossed my mind.

Cowboys are alive and well in Texas, as well as guest and working dude ranches. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the largest in the world, attracting more than 2.4 million people annually.

This year, I feel like I dipped my toe into all that Texas has to offer. I am looking forward to visiting again and maybe, next time, I’ll take an actual swim (or should I say ride).
